“Light is Good From Whatever Lamp it Shines”

But I think this lamp is pretty damn cool!
This is my latest piece of artwork! I made it as a birthday present for "Auntie" Kerry *this must be said in a cockney accent*, to go in the Moroccan room of her house. Unfortunately it took forever to finish so I only got to give it to her on Thursday evening when her actual birthday was in June, aren't I terrible? I shan't try and make excuses, but I was very busy and it's not easy cutting through the card that I was using. I was very specific about the thickness and colour when we were buying it, who knew the thickness would turn out to be such a bitch!?
But it was definitely worth the effort, I'm really proud of it and Kezza loves it.

This was the original sketch of the pattern for the lamp, however it had to be altered because it didn't all fit together and although some of the pattern on the lamp isn't as tight as I would have liked it to be, I think the contrast in space makes the light look more interesting.
When making the lamp I had to make templates for each shape so that they would have been vaguely similar, if the printer had have been working I would have printed out some of the shapes as the ones I drew aren't exactly perfect, but it makes the lamp quirky!
We also tried a few different bulbs to see which would look best and obviously the biggest created the most light and really shows off the pattern.
The fact that Kerry loves it really makes me happy!
