Project Perfect

I do realise I am extremely late in creating this post, it seems that the 'Project Perfect' phenomenon was in February, however I only just discovered it the other day here!

So I don't care if it's late because it's such a sweet idea and a great day to make you feel good about yourself and as I'm currently torturing my body I thought this post would be a positive start!

(And hopefully anyone who hasn't already taken part can have a chance to feel great about themselves)

So the idea of the post is that you:

1. Post a photo of yourself that you actually like and do a brief commentary of why you like it.

2. State some things that you do not like about yourself, but make sure to say why other people might like them, or might like to have them.

3. Write 3 things that you do like about yourself.

My photo:

The biggest reason I like this photo so much is because one of my male friends said it was sexy! This makes me very happy! Also you can see how green my eyes are, and my hair is curly and my skin looks good. (Honestly I prefer the way I look in my little welcome photo, but I just wanted to use a different photo.)

Things I don't like about myself (and why others might like them):

1. My legs, don't even get my started, I hate them with a passion, I have been cursed with what my mother calls "Denvers Legs" that's her maiden name, and women on her side of the family tend to have chunkier legs! Erm, why other's might like them, they like curvy women? I actually can't think of a reason, all I can say is that under the chunkiness I have quite strong leg muscles, so yeah...

2. My boobs, these do not exist, I might as well still be like 13. Thank God for padded bras, they at least make me look normal. Some women may want to have boobs like mine because theirs are too big and giving them back problems.

3. My smile, with teeth, it's not that I have bad teeth, they are actually alright, it's because it makes my cheeks look unbelievably chubby and I don't like the chipmunk on myself. Some people look really nice with dimples, but I am not one of them. That being the reason some people might want my smile (with teeth).

Things I actually like about myself:

1. My eyes. All of my siblings have dark brown eyes and I am the only one with green eyes and I love them , they make me feel special and lots of people give me compliments on my eyes, so yes, happy me!

2. Generally I quite like my face, well definitely in comparison to the rest of me. I wish my cheek bones were a little more defined, but apart for that I'm rather happy with my face (and hair, it shimmers red in the sun light! *happy face*).

3. My waist, (although it used to be smaller, but I'm working on it) but it is still kind of small, but anyway, it gives me an hourglass figure, so I shouldn't complain *smiles*.

If you haven't already taken part then you should, it really makes you feel good about yourself!

When Life Gives You Lemons...Make Cupcakes!

If you ever joke with me that I should make you cakes, the odds are that I will make you cakes at some point or another. So when my friend said I should make him cakes, guess what? He got CAKES!

However, deciding what cakes to make is always a bit of a dilemma, as obviously I want my skills and ideas to grow and generally I want to prove that I can cook/bake!

So here is the recipe for:

Lemon Drizzle Cupcake Surprise

(My Mum is slightly in love with these cakes, I was under strict orders to bring home the cakes that we didn't eat. Surprisingly there was two left, but to be fair we didn't eat dinner until 11pm. However, that still means we had 3 cakes each, which is rather a substantial amount of cakes really.)

Ingredients:

100g Softened Butter or 4 tbsp and how ever much you want to use for butter cream

100g Sugar or 4 tbsp

2 Eggs

About 150g of Self-raising flour or 4 heaped tbsp

Lemon Juice

Lemon Curd

Icing Sugar

Method:

Preheat oven to 180C

Add the 4 tbsp of butter to a large mixing bowl, add the sugar and butter and cream together.

When it's all creamed add the 2 eggs and mix together (it looks a little gross at this point)

Add your flour and mix together. The mixture will start to look like cake mix, it make look a little thicker, but that's fine!).

Add some lemon juice.

Put the mix in cakes cases (this mixture makes about 12)

Put the oven for about 20 minutes, they may need another 5 minutes, but just make sure to check on them

In the meantime you need to make the butter cream. You do this by adding your butter and icing sugar together and creaming, I added a little lemon juice too.

In this time you will also need to make your lemon drizzle. Add icing sugar to a clean bowl and our in lemon juice, and mix together until all the icing sugar is dissolved, if it's too runny add more icing sugar, if it's too thick add more lemon juice.

When the cupcakes are book, remove from oven and allow to cool for a few minutes.

Get a sharp knife and cut a circle in the top of the cake, do this while it's still warm.

Once they have completely cooled, you need to spoon out a bit more of the middle of the cakes so there is room for the surprise!

First into the hole add a teaspoon of lemon curd than fill the rest of the hole with butter cream.

13.

Add the "tops" (the circles you cut out, this should just be a thin layer of cake) back on to the cake and drizzle the lemon drizzle over the top.

My mum loved them so much that I've had to make a second batch this afternoon, they are cooling as I type this. She is also constantly teasing her friend, because we have cakes; evil much!

I actually can't wait to eat them. Nom Nom Nom!

A Wonderful Little Shop.

Whilst in Brighton I spent quite a bit of my time in a Gorgeous little shop called 'Imi Loa', to me it was called 'Clare's Shop', so I actually had to investigate to discover what it was actually called.

I was and still am completely in love with this shop, everything was just so beautiful. I could have spent so much money in there that my bedroom would have looked like the shop, although it would have been difficult to get everything home. There's a very homely and friendly atmosphere in the shop, both Clare and Marius are incredibly charming and unbelievably kind.

The term Imi Loa roughly translate as explore, which fits the boutique in an outstanding way, there is so much culture included in the shop, from styles of accessories to the images used on some of the products.

The shop is located down the main high street, just around the corner from Brunswick Square, about 500 metres away from the beach, how lovely, but I do warn you, it's not a real beach; it has pebbles instead of sand; it hurts! It honestly grieves me that I didn't take more photos on my many trips to Brighton, it's such an amazing place and I haven't been since last July, I'm feeling rather deprived really.

This was my Christmas present from Sam Reece (an amazing artist) in 2011, from Imi Loa of course, it's lovely, isn't it? It did used to have a photograph in it, however it has been removed, which is rather annoying as it was quite difficult to get in, I tell you now!

This was another gift from Sam when my Granddad died, I was devastated, but she lovingly looked after me. This notebook is now one of my most prized possessions as I use it as my design book. At this present moment there are 47 designs and I'm just waiting until inspiration strikes again. I choose this one because I think the mix of colours and motifs was beautiful and it comes in handy for inspiration sometimes. Because I loved it so much I wanted to know if there was anything similar out there in the big wide world, so I very cleverly looked at the back of the book. Magically I found Papaya Art!!! I've spent hours looking through this site, making wish lists in my head and I swear as soon as I have a decent amount of money I will be spending a fair amount of it on this website.

This is the gorgeous Heart Clare wrapped around my Notebook when Sam bought it. Clare was also very sympathetic about my loss and gave me a nice big hug, the two of them are just lovely. I now hang this heart in my bedroom along with my little bird.

I'm completely running out of words to describe all this, it's ridiculous.

But all in all, I can't wait to go back to Brighton, need somewhere to stay and someone to go with, hmm, hopefully I can go in the Summer holidays, although I would like to go to Ireland too.

Anyone visited anywhere nice lately?

DIY Mug Decoration

Okay, been a while since I've done a DIY, especially as this is only my second one, sacre blue!

And not that this is particularly difficult, but I thought I'd share as not many people know about these awesome pens!

You will need:

A mug (or several)

Porcelain Pens!

An Oven

Tracing Paper (optional)

Sellotape (optional)

Pencil (optional)

1. Clean your mug and dry thoroughly.

2. Give your pens a good shake and test the ink on a piece of scrap paper. Then draw away! Optionally, if you aren't too sure about your design, you can trace it, sellotape the tracing paper on to your mug, draw over the lines on the tracing paper and when you remove it then pencil lines should be on your mug. The just draw way!

(Quick warning: These pens can be tricky and it may take a while to get your design perfect, or good enough in the time it takes you to give up, like in my cake.)

3. Allow the ink to dry for at least 4 hours (I didn't do this on some of mine and I may live to regret it.)

4. Place in a none pre heated oven at 200C for about an hour and a half (but this depends on your mug).

5. And VOILA, you should have a prettily decorated water and wash proof mug!

These were the mugs I started out with on Thursday morning, the smaller one is a mug we already had that Mother kindly said I could draw on. The other mug was bought for the special purpose of making Mum a mug for Mothers' Day.

The first mug here was one I made for one of my Best Friend's 18th Birthday, this one was quite successful and he says he still uses it to this day and that the J is still there (Thank God). The Moustache Mug was the first one I did on Thursday morning, just because I really wanted a Moustache Mug! (However I didn't give this one 4 hours to dry as I was pretty rushed for time, and it didn't withstand the oven as well as the other one, see the black mark on the handle? That's the oven's fault!)

Now Mufasa's Mug is one of my Mother's many presents for Sunday (luckily she doesn't read my blog so she won't see it). On one side it says 'Mufasa's Mug' (obviously) - My wonderful Mum is obviously Mufasa- and on the other side was meant to be a pretty flower, however the yellow porcelain pen didn't work very well *sad face*, hopefully she'll like it anyway.

Fluffy Tablet Computer Case {DIY}

Two of my lucky younger siblings received mini tablet computer things for Christmas. So I was commanded by my Father to make them something to keep them in, we all know how messy little kids can be. I was struck by inspiration when I remembered the material my Mum had given me to make cushion covers with, (which I just never got around to) a lovely fluffy material used before as my little sister's costume for her role in the Christmas Nativity as a Shepard. Because who doesn't love something fluffy.

(Besides your material you will also need; thread, a needle and/or sewing machine, a button, a pen and scissors.)

1. Place your tablet on your material, cut a long strip, making sure that the tablet can double over and there is still some extra material at the top.

2. Draw a rectangle around your tablet on the wrong-side of the material, making sure there is a gap of at least half a CM between the tablet and the line. Also make sure there is excess material on the outside of your line. Fold your material in half, ensuring you have you extra material at the top (for the flap), and sew down your two longest lines to create a pocket.

3. Pull your material through, so its the fluffy material on the outside, and place your tablet inside, fold over the flap and place a button on the pocket, where there will be enough of the flap to button it up, and sew on.

4. Cut a small slit where the button meets the material on the flap. I then sewed around the edges of the slit, just to make sure the material didn't fray. At first it may be difficult to button-up and unbutton the case, but it will ease a bit with perseverance.

5. Slip in your tablet computer and VOILA! A nice fluffy case.

The two satisfied customers looking very cheeky. They do love to cuddle them. Quote from Abs "It's very very very very good in real." 'In real' apparently means in real-life in the world of a 6 year old, I think the world should be worried when 6 year olds are making up slang. Hope you like my first DIY.
