Chocolate or Vanilla?

Chocolate or Vanilla?
Screw it; have both!
My (sometimes) adorable sister was meant to be having a cake sale at school today to raise money for...erm...something...? So being the lovely big sister that I am I decided that I'd make some cakes, because you can easily beat the cheap rubbish in supermarkets with home made cakes that are baked with love and frustration. But anyway, that was cancelled, but we'd already bought all the ingredients, so I thought "to hell with it! I'll make cakes anyway!"

So here is the recipe for my:
Chocolate Star Cupcakes

(I'm trying to come up with snazzy names, it's really vanilla cake with chocolate buttercream icing)

Ingredients:
100g Softened Butter or 4 tbsp and how ever much you want to use for butter cream
100g Sugar or 4 tbsp
2 Eggs
About 150g of Self-raising flour or 4 heaped tbsp
Vanilla Essence/Flavouring
Icing sugar (as much as you need, but about 170g)
Cocoa Powder (again as much as you need, but about 55g)
1-2 Tbsp Milk
White Chocolate Stars (for decoration)

Method:
Preheat oven to 180C

1.
Add the 4 tbsp of butter to a large mixing bowl, add the sugar and cream together.
2.
When it's all creamed add the 2 eggs and mix together (it looks a little gross at this point)
3.
Add your flour and mix together. The mixture will start to look like cake mix, it make look a little thicker, but that's fine!).
4.
Add your vanilla essence/flavouring, make it vanillary as you like.
5.
Add to the cake cases and put in the oven for 20-25 minutes, remember to check on them though
(I always put the timer on for 17 minutes so I can check them)
6.
To make the buttercream, beat the butter until soft. Add about half of the icing sugar and beat until smooth
7.
Add the remaining icing sugar, cocoa powder and about one tablespoon of milk and beat until creamy.
8.
Allow the cakes to cool for about 20 minutes. Once cool, spread the buttercream icing on top of your cakes.
9.
Decorate with your chocolate stars
10.
ENJOY!

OCD at work here, I had to arrange the cake cases by colour in diagonal lines!

Got to love MACRO!
Although my camera calls it close up (a camera obviously not made for art students).

As the children of my siblings Primary School are missing out on these delicious cakes we'll just have to eat them ourselves! I might as well be a cake maker full time, wonder how much I could charge per cake, these much be worth more than the 20p that the school was going to charge!

So remember, each day, live a little, laugh a little and love a little.
