Fashion Of The Summery Kind

10:37

Although I don't really follow trends I thought I would share with everyone what Vogue (my favourite fashion magazine) says are the Summer trends this year!

English Rose
Obviously florals come back every single year, they are very much a tradition of English fashion in the spring and summer time. But this year there is more of a concentration on botanic floral patterns, instead of the extremely bright bold patterns of previous years. This year is definitely more about a subtle elegance (Probably influenced by the graceful style of the royal family as it is of course the Diamond Jubilee).

Urban Angel
Obviously meant to be the cooler of styles this summer. Trying to dress down more chic Chanel inspired pieces. Most elements within this style are very structured, however not a lot of colour is present. However with a few colourful accessories this would be a lovely lively look for the evenings when it's not quite so hot (which will probably be most "summer" evenings in the UK).

Seaside Siren
This style has come around many times before, it was only a few years ago that the shops were filled with anchor covered tops and blue stripes. Every time I see a blue striped top I'm reminded of my holidays in France, so obviously this is a prefect style for summer. If done right it also doesn't need to look like you are copying the French, simply that you are sophisticated, I'd do this with a dash of red lipstick.

Nature Girl
This style is how I imagine my mum would have dressed, the lose floral dresses and earthy colours. This style to me is a more urban version of florals. Which is definitely very popular this year, especially as the presence of "indie" fashion is becoming more prominent. With the flowing and light fabrics these items of clothing are ideal for summer (if we ever see the return of the sun).

As I was saying before I don't tend to follow trends, I just buy the clothes I like (usually pretty clothes) and wear them when I like. I rarely dress for practicality, unless it's extreme conditions, like when it shows, then it's big boots and 2 layers of tights under my jeans. And when it's really hot, then it's extremely light dresses and bikinis (but that doesn't happen very often here in the UK).
But I'm glad that florals are an actual trend this summer as they are my summer staples.
What is everyone else's favourite look for summer?

So remember, each day, live a little, laugh a little and love a little.

    1. They aren't my images, I took photos of the magazine, just so I could show what Vogue recommends, although I'm not a fan of all the pieces they use.
I'll definitely make sure to have a look!
