“The Most Elegant Interiors Are Just Slightly Tatty.”

18:38

Lately I've been keeping my laptop under my bed because, well honestly, I like blogging in bed as it's all comfortable and I can lean against my wall to help my back. I think one of the reasons my laptop charger keeps breaking is because of where I kept it. So, because I'm a lovely person and I care about my laptop it has been lovingly moved back to my desk (although my Dad complains because my desk is near my window, on the ground floor of the house, but in all honesty you can't see the details of my room unless you come up to the window and it's not like our house is on a busy street with sneaky people walking down it). The main reason I haven't really been using my desk is because it is where my sewing machine lives, which takes up a fair amount of room, also during the week while I was still at college random folders would always be scattered about my desk, meaning my poor laptop would have ended up at the bottom of a massive piley, and we all know how painful that can be!
Although I'm only at home for another year and a half, I feel that my room really should be the way I want it, although I know it can't be exactly the way I want it as it would be a huge waste of money to replace my perfectly fine furniture. So I might as well decorate my walls and once all my Psychology revision posters have been removed from above my desk (in 10 days time) I would like to improve my desk/office space.

So here are some photos for inspiration, that I thought I would share and get everyone's opinion.

I love all of these images, but I'm still not quite sure how I should decorate my wall, once the posters are removed I may show you all a photo of what space I have to work with so you can all help me a little more, I also plan on swapping over my bookshelf and desk, so the space will look different.
For those of you who would like to help, the main colour scheme of my room is purple and most of my furniture is beach wood(?), I would have loved white furniture like in my parents bedroom, however I didn't get to choose mine because I was only 8/9 when they bought my furniture. And my desk is glass, what an odd combination, but that's what happens when you don't let the arty one design their own room!
But oh well, when I have my own home, my room will be perfect!
Any advice and/or ideas will be very much appreciated...

    1. I do like picture 1, but finding all the vintage things would be difficult and possibly expensive. The clipboards would be a good idea for holding up notes and fashion illustrations, but unless the drawings are colourful, the wall wouldn't be. And I probably shouldn't paint the wall purple as it'll make the room look smaller as I already have one purple wall. And I'm sure Ikea will...I LOVE Ikea!

  3. If your desk has a glass top, putting pretty paper under it facing up or making a collage out of photos under the glass is always a good idea.

    1. That is such a good idea, but unfortunately most of the glass is "frosted", thank you so much though!

  4. Ooooo I absolutely love the top one! It's looks so calming and I am in love with the bedding and all the cushions! I'm in the process of building a 'cushion collection'... with one current cushion sitting on my bed. I'll get there...
Love the pic with the blue furniture as well, it reminds me of the beach for some reason.
All my furniture used to be pine coloured as well, but I beggggggged my mum to paint it all white a few years back and she finally gave in!
My room is still in the process of being done up (one year on from it being painted haha), need curtains, new bedding, some pictures for the wall and cushions, cushions, cushions! And then random decorations.
I love home interior, one of my favourite things to look at online!
Can't wait to see how your room ends up looking like :)

    1. I know, I love vintage or at least vintage style.
So jealous, mine isn't the right kind of wood to be painted, however my Dad has said I can paint my book case, so I'll do that once the exams are over with and I shall be going through all my books and rearranging everything and getting rid of all the crap from KGV! I can't wait to see your cushion collection when it gets going, I hope you'll post some photos! I love cushions too, but it's hard enough to make my bed without having to organise them too. Has your room got any particular colour scheme?
